The blue sapphire

The center is a genuine lab-grown blue sapphire — real sapphire (corundum) with the same chemistry, hardness (9 Mohs), and optics as a mined stone, in a deep royal-blue “ceylon” tone with no green or gray undertone. Lab-grown is not the same as simulated: a simulated sapphire is a different material (like cubic zirconia) that only looks the part, while a lab-grown sapphire is sapphire. Sizing & care

Sapphire is 9 on the Mohs scale — extremely durable for daily wear; the main caution is the corners of the emerald cut and the points of the trillion onyx, which can chip on a sharp knock.
